SOCIAL SECURITY, FRANCE’S TOP PUBLIC SERVICE.
With 400 agencies and 176,000 employees, the French social security system is the main provider of welfare services. At the heart of solidarity in France, the system’s players ensure the payment of monetary benefits to all eligible citizens, provide access to assistance and support services, and carry out preventive actions to support all individuals in their lives.
Social Security is a key player of solidarity in France. Each year, more than EUR 475 billion are redistributed through the various payment streams of Social Security (reimbursement of medical care, funding of hospitals and nurseries, family allowances, housing subsidies, pension payments, etc.). These expenses are 1.5 times the amount of State expenditure.
